Microstation/Google Earth Capture

This google earth microstation capture and vice versa is really cool.   Coordinates are set and everything pops in right on the money.   Question . . . Going from my initial google earth capture JPG image (the greyscale initial capture) to the colored, higher resolution 'save-image-as' from google earth, it looks like the new, high-res image is slightly skewed when I re-enter microstation.   Wondering if I might be missing a step somewhere.   It looks great and everything but I can tell is has shifted just a little . . Im using Google Earth Pro and Microstation v8i.   When I do my save-as-image from GE I select the maximum resolution and I think the initial GE capture is a bit lower resolution so Im thinking that may be the cause . . .

Thanks I love this sh*t

  • Hi Dan,

To avoid this problem there is one thing you must do in Google Earth before using Capture Google Earth Image in MicroStation.

You need to display the Save Image toolbar in Google Earth and don't dismiss it.
It changes the area displayed in the Google Earth window, which in turn causes the shift you are seeing.

This video illustrates what is happening and how to avoid the problem.
