Steps taken
- Copy table from excel
- In MicroStation pulldown Edit>Paste Special.
- From the list of Data Type selected “Linked Microsoft Excel Worksheet”
- In the Paste OLE Tool Settings dialog set the Method to By Size
After these steps we close Excel and it crashes.
Anyone experienced and know the resolutions please?
Jon Summers is correct in requesting details about the version of MicroStation this is relating to but equally important would be the version of MS Office or Excel that is being used.

we have Office 365 , excel 2016
Bentley will tell you that that is not a supported config as the version of Excel is much newer than your version of Microstation. Having said that it can be made to work. Try saving your Excel as an XLS (ie the 2003 version) not XLSX and see if that helps.
Thanks Duncan. our file has macros but I tried without macros xlsx, xls even and excel crashes everytime.
Then I'm not sure. I do use the cut and paste from Excel to the same version and it works for me so it should be possible.

But what version of Excel do you use?

Latest Office 365 version 16 same as the OP which is why I didn't mention it.
Duncan,
Is this file-specific? Can you reproduce this issue with another spreadsheet and/or DGN file?

It works for me. It's the OP with the problem.
