Hi,
I was thinking if there is anything that can be done to get rid of the Shared Cells with asterisk that appear after dimensions are imported from an AutoCAD file into Microstation.
I will explain the steps I am taking and what I have tried so far:
I created a test file in AutoCAD with some lines and dimensions. There are many options to save this file. I saved the file in AutoCAD 2013 to be able to open it in Microstation.
acad2013-export__test.dwg (I attach the file)
Once in Microstation I create a new empty file and proceed to reference and merge the file I had just created in AutoCAD.
The first thing I notice is that there are some Shared Cells in the file.
I proceed to do the following:
- change the style of the dimensions to one of the included in the seed file
- File -> Compress -> (choose all available options)
The Shared Cells with the asterisk are still there, I was not able to delete them.
I have tried the following options so far, and none of it was succesful:
- export the file in AutoCAD 2013, 2010, 2003, 2000... also in all DXF file formats available.
- copy from one window of Aecosim to the other.
- save as 2D
- save as V8, different options on how to save to another V8
- save to V7 (this was unsuccesful because dimensions were dropped into lines/text)
- use a demo of "Filefixer" (https://www.axiomint.com/microstation/filefixer/) and run the program to fix .dgn files, still unsuccesful in deleting the Shared Cells.
I need a solution to be able to retain existing dimensions from an AutoCAD file as well as having a .dgn file without Shared Cells. If anyone has been succesful in doing this, I would be very grateful.
(I will also attach the .dgn file if you want to play with it).
DGN-v8-sample-imported_acad_here.dgn
The way I get round this is to reference the file into a clean dgn and copy the geometry across.
I dont convert dwg I xref and select all and copy, then detach ref
Then I select all shared cells and drop to normal cells...
Shared cells from acad usually come from attributed blocks in acad and msnt doesnt want you to loose any important attributes like tag text so it makes them shared cells..
Depending on how much I need to convert and how many drawings, I 've had to revert to moving all the dims to a new layer and locking it then redo all the dims in msnt , then delete all the old dims... not the best option but sometimes needs must... to get stuff out to client on time.. you gotta do what you gotta do..
