The IT guys at our company have said that CONNECT has written in many of the utilities that we used from Axiom - things like global replace. I haven't been able to find that in MicroStation CONNECT. What we need is a way to replace stamps in an entire folder (without opening each drawing up individually). We can do that with Axioms help. I know that there has to be a way in MicroStation CONNECT, right? <CONNECT Update 12 - Version 10.12.00.40>
You can find batch process on the file menu in connect.
But guys, I don't want to have to write a program! MicroStation is a very expensive program. Shouldn't something as simple as this already be written into the program?!? Why are they making us write things so that we can do basic tasks?!? What is this Autocad?!?
It's not about writing a program. You don't have to do anything that fancy. But you do have to have some way to tell the software what you want it to do. That's where the key-ins come in. These are the same key-ins that you can use in the middle of working to execute the same commands.
(By the way, plenty of people have to write AutoCAD LISP routines for things that software package still doesn't have).

I know they have to write stuff for their Autocad software. That's why I said it. The people here who work with Autocad have a ton of lisp routines that they've had to write so that they can work efficiently in Autocad. Up until CONNECT I was able to show Autocad people how MicroStation already does what they have to create for Autocad. Now, Bentley is taking away their 'intelligence' so that they can be like Autocad? It's insane. Do I need to bone up on DOS again?!? I'm still salty about CONNECT not having steel.ma Everyone, I KNOW that things can be written. Now Bentley please explain why you are taking away simple things from MicroStation so that we all have to write our own stuff to make things work? It makes zero sense to go back to the dark ages. A replace the cell, replace text, etc., should be a simple button push or something along the lines of Print Organizer or batch plot. And I shouldn't have to write the thing. It should be built-in.
You can do this. Connect does provide the tools to "replace a cell in a whole folder full of drawings". But not in one click. Mary has laid out much of it below. If you just don't want to learn anything new, you may be in the wrong business.
Don't forget to create a quick archive before you start experimenting. Good luck!
