Our client would like to move the Bentley MicroStation from Citrix to VDI environment.
Is Bentley MicroStation supports in VDI?
If it supports which version it is?
If not supports, Is there any roadmap for supporting in VDI.
thanks,
malla
Hi Mallareddy
A VDi is typically either a citrix or VMWare. I know Bentley use VMware as thier VDi platform. However, from a Bentley point of view and from setting up several clients to use VDi's it works well, RAM and graphics cards are vital.
If you are using CONNECT and/or MS SS10 where both require the connections client to access the license servers in the Bentley cloud. So whether you are on a PC, laptop or VDi you will need to access the internet to obtain a license.
This means that each user on the VDi will have their own license granted to them via the connection client. Thus there are no issues with software licenses.
I hope this helps
Ian

If VM ware is used, is this works?

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) is a generic term, implemented by Citrix and other companies. That question is tautological: it doesn't lead anywhere.

You really need to put your questions to Bentley Systems. This MicroStation Forum provides peer-to-peer help: it's not a formal route to Bentley Systems support (although many Bentley Systems staff contribute positively with their answers).
VMWare provides another brand of VDI. Your question to Bentley Systems is straightforward: is MicroStation certified for use with VMWare?

Thanks Jon,
I am checking with Betley as well on this. Meanwhile I am checking in this forum as well.
