Hi,
I want to try the new Place Component / Upload Component function (Modelling - Content - Place component / Upload Component). Unfortunately if I try to use it, I get the message:
You do not have permission to access this server
How can a user get permission to acces this server?
This function looks interesting. 3D warehouse for Bentley products....

I agree that the message is not very helpful. Nor can I find a guide to configuring a component server in MicroStation help. However, I found this help page that provides a clue...
An organization's component administrator can create custom catalogs from their enterprise library ensuring that the correct digital components are used during the design phase. Users can then place these components as cells in their design. These components can then be managed by the iModel Hub as design changes are detected and change sets are sent to the Hub.
Sounds good: it has something to do with iModel Hub.

Hi Jon, Components Center is one of our Cloud Services, which can be accessed by a range of applications, including MicroStation and PowerProducts.
It is not possible to set up your own server, all components uploaded into your organization catalogs are hosted in our cloud.
You can find more information in this blog post and in the Components Center Community.
Components Center is a stand alone service so any queries which are not related to its integration with MicroStation should be asked in the Cloud Services forum.
Jon, the iModel Hub is one of Bentley new technologies and services that can integrate with most of our applications, including MicroStation, PowerProducts and other Cloud Services, such as Components Center, even though this integration may not be explicitly displayed in a product.
Part of the Documentation regarding Components Center is general and cross-products as meant to describe the service, rather the specific integration with a product, but we will be happy to review it if it proves to cause any issues.
Marco / Grace,
It would be good to hook up at least one of the delivered datasets with a Component Center library.
Most users will be trying things out from outside the office, I think.
Also very useful from within the office if you try it out if you can just switch to one of the example worksets.
I think that your typical admin will need to get permission from the client or whoever to store content externally. This usually takes a long time... By then the novelty effect would be much reduced and CC might even go the way of the launch page that has been withdrawn recently?
Hi Marco
How do you save an Imodel file to the imodelhub? Im using Microstation Connect 13 But cant find documentation on this?

We're dealing with new technology and new marketing buzz-words. For a Bentley Systems employee these are the latest and greatest. They expect the rest of the world to keep up. Search for iModel Hub to find more vague statements. There are also confusing statements, such as The heart of an Infrastructure Digital Twin is a relational database — known as an iModel.
Whatever that is, iModel Hub deserves its own new post.
That functionality is not there yet. More comes with U14 and U15. Today you can just reference the iModel.
