I see there is a problem with fence stretch with new solids cut
- the profile is not moving with cuted stretched walls - can you confirm ?
Martin
Hi Martin,
what kind of solids are you using, parametric? And if this is case is the profile constrained?
Solid by construction without switched Parametric … Profil is rotate block and Cut with profil Show
Dinesh,
1. Didn't realise FS worked on Parametric Solids. Was this always the case with CE or is this a new feature?
2. It sounds like the FS operation is saved as a node in the Parametric Solid's history tree... that hides the PS elements up to the FS operation. If so, is the FS operation persistent?
Hi Dominic,
Yes, Fence Stretch was always available in CONNECT and is Persistent Feature Operation. We don't recommend it because it don't have any Parameter that could control the Fence Stretch Distance. Like any other Features, when added, it gets stacked on earlier features.

Well, you could fix that by saving the Fence (already possible as Named Fence) and translation as point(s) (Move), point + rotation (Rotate) and point as scale factor (Scale).
Persistence: 1. Place Parametric Slab with height of 1m. 2. Fence Stretch the top section of the Slab so that it is now 2m high. 3. Extrude the top face of the Slab so that the Slab is now 3m high. 4. Go back in the stack and increase the Slab's original height parameter to 2m. Will the Solid now measure 4m high? Works with Associative Extractions?
What about Group ? If you group elements , change size and then ungroup - it keeps Parameters ? So fence can work this way too
Careful with groups sometimes grouped parametric cells/solids even with the Fence stretch cells check "on" will cause the software to abruptly shut down without warning. I've not resolved what the exact conditions need to be but it happens 9 out of 10 times for me so i avoid it now like the plague.
If i could i would remove fencing operations from the tool bars entirely but my user base would revolt. If you stack to many fence stretch operations and things start to fail badly convert your parametric solids to smart solids. That seems to be a functional work around, but of course you lose all your parametric features and constraints if you had any.
