Design History Dialogue - Lost Icon - U13

Recently upgraded to U13 and had recourse to use Design History Dialogue.

One immediate thing I noticed, is the loss of the "Show Revisions in Reference files" button usually located between the "Show Elements before Modified" and "List Filter".

Edit. Seemed to be there one minute, in one session, and gone the next in another session. Is there some form of "Context Sensitive" mode on this dialogue?

If so, then it does not work well as Turning all REF off does not make it go away once it has appeared.

And, is it U13 or all versions that the "Latest Revision" in REF Manager appears against files when they do not have Design History when just one file has Design History?

  • Hi Gregory,

Sorry about missing this post. It must have been overlooked. Looking back at your previous Service Requests I can see SR # 7000988944 which appears to be related to this. Defect # 1066205 was raised to development. Is this the same issue or should it be investigated as a separate issue?

  • Hi Andrew

I had a deeper dive into this just now since upgrading, and it seems the situation is more stable under 13.1, but sttill unusual.

The issue is still apparent, with unique circumstances. (I have some screen captures if desired)
After ATTACH, with no REFERENCE previously attached, the command does not appear on DESIGN HISTORY ribbon.

Performing a SAVE SETTINGS brings the command into the dialogue.

However, when REFERENCE is removed, the Show References menu item on the Design History ribbon remains visible even after a Save Settings. The menu item is removed when file is reopened with no REFERENCES attached.

Not an ideal situation, but as this is a not a critical dialogue, it may remain a low priority as I see it.

But please determine if this is a defect.

Thanks for your attention picking this back up. As this was not a regular problem, and easily worked around or skipped over, as I rarely operate with no References, I had forgotten.

  • Yes, this differs from the Defect/SR you mentioned.

These 3 images are in sequence, and as described.

    1. This image of Design History Dialogue from file opened  containing Design History without References Attached.

     1.

    2. ONly action Taken = Attach Reference (the Refernce also contains Design History)

Note the dual "Recent" entries and the extra versions - from Reference, but no Icon to turn off "Show Revisions in Reference Files"

    2

    3. Next, the only action taken = Save Settings.

Notice the change by the additonal icon in ribbon

This is the "Show Revisions in Reference Files" icon, and is turned on so one can see the list unchanged.

It is important to note that the effect under Update 13.1 differs from teh original post, which was from Update 13.0

  • Looking at these screen captures you are attaching a reference that contains Design History. So this is when the "Show Revisions in Reference Files" icon would display as if it doesn't contain Design History it would not be required.

Are you asking why the icon is displaying or that it is not listing the Design History from the attached reference even when it has been selected?

If so can also provide example design and reference files to try to replicate what you are describing here that would be great.

    ----------------

Looking back again at your previous issues I located SR # 7000858018 which resulted in:

Defect 983221: Attach reference containing Design History affects the next attachment.

"If you attach a file that contains Design History information, choosing the first after the "Latest Available", the next attached reference file, if it does not contain Design History, inherits the previous attachments revision and displays in red like it is not being found."

Is this defect also different to what this issue describes?

  • Hi Andrew

While not a biggie, I just think the "trigger" for the context sensitive icon is not correct.

"Are you asking why the icon is displaying or that it is not listing the Design History from the attached reference even when it has been selected?"

    Sort of both.

    1. Open the file S19-032-00 (nothing special about these files, just a new file from the 2D Seed with Design History Inititated)

    2. Attach REFERENCE

    3. Open Design History Dialogue

    4. Note the missing icon that wotuld normally display the "Show Revisions in Reference Files"

    5. Close Design History Dialogue

    6. Save Settings

    7. Open Design History Dialogue

    8. Note the appearance of the icon

  • "Is this defect also different to what this issue describes?"

    Yes.

And still does this in U13.1

I attach a third file to compliment the 2 sample test files.

This file is identical to REFERENCE.DGN, except that I have Deleted DESIGN HISTORY.

    Steps to reproduce effect.

    1. Open S19-032-00.DGN

    2. Attach REFERENCE.DGN - Choose Revision 1.1 of this file's Design History

    3. Attach REFERENCE2.DGN - There is no Design History, so there is no setting for this in the Attach Dialogue.

    4. Note the file Attaches in RED, as in image capture below.
