Dear Forum, does anyone know what file or seed is used in the creation of the new dgn when a file fence [ff=] is used?
Hi Andi,
AFAIK the ff command makes a copy from the original file, it does not use a different seed file.

Thank you.ive searched a few forums and see the command SF=, what is this? And is there a better way ti remove graphics only from one file when trying to fix corruptions.Does FF= remove all Material Pallettes? My issue is corruptions in a file. My way to remove them is:FF= graphics,Ref FF'd graphics into Project Seed to confirm its in the correct seed,Run VerifyDGNRun FixRangeCompress All
found this:https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/f/z_-archived-microstation-v8i-forum/86845/file-fence-or-separate-fence-to-a-new-model-in-the-same-dgn-file/244607#244607SF seems like a better tool for my workflow as its taking those graphical elements to a new file. Agai my question would be, can i set the seed for that new file?
depend on your skills.
one way could be: Open a new file and transfer the fence content with Copy&Paste
another way could be to create a little VBA doing the work for you.
The ff and sf commands only use the active file as the seed. There are other workflows that would allow you to use a different seed for the new file. One would be to create the new file from seed and then reference and copy the information into the new file.
