I posted this same a month or so ago, can't find the thing.
Someone suggested I use an Asking Inga routine which essentially reset all of my preferences. It worked for a while. I had to re-remember many settings get back where I needed to be, annoying. After just a couple days the ribbon would no longer stay minimized.
Does anyone know how to fix this or any clue as to what might be causing it to no longer work?
Ribbon will minimize, but reverts to full if I change model or file. I could really use that extra inch of monitor. When I first started using the recent GUI "upgrade" thought I might need a third monitor. 10.13.01.01
I have raised this as a new "Defect 1061144: Ribbon status not staying minimized" to our development team. If you wanted to be updated on the status you could log a new Service Request which can be linked to this.

Thanks so much Andrew! When I go ST route it turns into a 10 hour clusterfudge. I'm thinking your channels of communication might be a bit better.

This issue becomes even more of an issue when running ORD. It appears that it reads the ribbonstate.xml on model change. Ord uses multiple models open a lot and your ribbon will collapse or open by clicking a view.

yep
My workaround was to hand edit the file (Personal.RibbonState.xml), so now my ribbon always starts minimized. Like many things Connect there are still bugs (anomalies?), mainly that certain dialog boxes will display behind the ribbon, causing you to manipulate the gui to see what you need for a particular input.
