Why would a simple hatch show up one way in CONNECT and another in v8i? In CONNECT the scale changes. The picture below shows the difference. The first picture is CONNECT with the tight hatch pattern. The second is the loose pattern which is what the engineer prefers. The hatching is in a referenced file. After I first posted this question I went in and turned off the Annotation Scale lock for the referenced file. Now the hatch appears the same as it does in the v8i session. I'm going to go see how turning off the AS lock affects the text and other linestyles scales.
I am using MicroStation CONNECT Update 12 - Version 10.12.00.40
Thank you
MicroStation V8i SS4 introduced Annotation Scale aware patterning, that may be involved. The Annotation Scale of the pattern can be disabled in element properties.

Hi Marc,
Is there a way in which I can globally disable annotation scale for patterns? (but not for annotation)
We do not use pattern scaling in our drawings. as we prefer patterns to be relative to the element size, rather than drawing.
We commonly find issues (particularly with exporting) caused by annotation scale patterns and I would like to be able to lock this setting off at Org level.
Hi Duncan,
Annotation Scale for text and patterns are controlled by a single toggle so not possible at present.
There is a command:
'annotationscale remove'
that you could use to reset any patterns on a selection (that excluded text)
Do you know how the patterns are acquiring the Annotation Scale on attribute?
Thanks Marc,
I have managed a work around by creating custom pattern, hatch and cross hatch tools, with 'lock useannotationscale off' appended to the tool key in. I then replaced all the instances of the original tool with my ones in the ribbon.
Conversely, All my annotation and dimensioning tools already have custom templates to ensure anno scale is always on, so fingers crossed I don't start getting mixed text sizes. if people use default tools from the search bar or other toolboxes.
