File fencing in Powerdraft Connect

I am a single Powerdraft user recently upgraded from V8 to Connect.

I used to save drawings using the  ff= key in to take a 'snapshot' of them when they were issued.

In Connect however, using save fence to file, areas of fill wholly within the fence are copied with their levels and symbologies but areas of fill only partly within the fence end up having their level changed!

I have wasted half a day trying to figure this out - can anyone help?

Not too technical please!

  • in previous versions you had to turn on optimised fence clipping in the preferences, I assume you have it off in connect, previous versions it was off by default...( in connect > preferences> operation> fence operation> Optimized fence clipping)

This extra enabled option allowed us to keep filled closed shapes as closed filled shapes without breaking them..

  • ok you replied off line that  it  didnt  work.. time to try a work around and for those who also are experiencing this issue.

create new file ref attach the file you wanted to fence file, now place fence how you wanted to capture , also turn off any levels you don't want in the ref file now chose clip reference by the fence and now use merge ref... this will only copy through the levels from the ref file..

Tragic fail for CE  that fence file doesnt  work like it  use to and unacceptable it changes levels and it seems to have lost the nice feature of enhanced clipping that maintained filled areas...somebody  should lodge a fault with Bentley over this...
