Hello All, we have a big project wherein the customer expects us to deliver the drawings in .dgn format whereas we mostly work in AutoCAD Electrical environment. So, my first question is, if there's a way to convert AutoCAD Electrical drawings to Microstation without losing any of the features? Also, are there any productivity tools available in Microstation which can be used to make the drawings generation simpler and more effective? Some of the examples of productivity tools could be, BOM table generation in the drawings, Index table generation, Call out numbers for items in BOM, Electrical wire label generation etc.Appreciate any positive response on this.
Hello Kishor,MicroStation is able to open the AutoCAD *.dwg file format.Regarding productivity tools, that may be something that need to be tested. Best practice would be to embed all these into the DWG file

What version (e.g. v10.x.y.z) of MicroStation are you using?
Kishor Valse said:BOM table generation
AutoCAD is to MicroStation what AutoCAD Electrical is to Bentley Promis.e. There are tools to help electrical designers in the vertical app. The base platform doesn't specialise in electrical design.
Nonetheless, depending on the version of MicroStation you use, BOM tools may be available.

As has already been mentioned, MicroStation can open and modify the DWG file format that I would assume this AutoCad Electrical software works with. What you may need to consider is whether you need to look at an Object Enabler for this Autodesk product. You would need to contact them to check what you may require to display any proxy elements produced in their DWG files.

If you are not using the latest release of MicroStation CONNECT Edition you may find that the DWG file produced is not able to be opened due to support of the latest versions. You should also be upgrading to the latest versions due to expiring support which will be discontinued by January 1st 2020.
