Control visibility via color, not just level?

Good Afternoon -

In a particular referenced view, is there any way to control an element's visibility by color rather than level? If I have say 5 identical elements (all on the same level) in a drawing, and I turn that level off, all 5 elements are no longer visible. After changing the color of one of the elements, is it possible to turn the visibility of that element off while leaving the other 4 visible, even though they are all on the same level>

  • I think this can be done in v8i, but not on a reference file, it means creating a item set  ( not  item type like CE) then  you set the item set colour for each element  as the color you want to see, then you could just see the item set ..

Alternatively  change your selection setting for selections to be be The colour you want  and then use the power selector using the colour you want selected lets say  you want to only see all the red objects then select all and turn  off non red by colour now only the reds should be visible in your selection set... I would choose a section high lite  colour that either matches what want to show  or  yellow to make it contrast against BG to make easier to find up to you...( again I don't think works with ref files)

Note I have not yet tested either idea... but from memory the logic seams correct...
