Wondering if there is a way to open these dialog boxes automatically upon opening a drawing? Seems like a waste of time to have to open these 3 items every time i open a new drawing?
Open these dialog boxes and dock it to a required location, do a Save Settings. When you open MicroStation next time should retain these dialog boxes.
Save Settings and User Preferences
I see that it seems to work if you dock to one side. But I am wanting these dialog boxes to open on my 2nd monitor and undocked.
I don't seem to have a Restore undocked dialogs as an option or check box under Workspace>preferences>Look and Feel
What version of the software are you using?

I think this option was added in CONNECT Edition, so it's not available in the discussed Geopak V8i.

There should be a few coveats with this advice.
1. Some dialogues do not respect visibility and/or positoin (unless docked). This issue appears to be retricted to the Sub Dialogues, such asa. Accudraw - Respects position, but not the visibilityb. Snaps - Does not respect eitherc. Locks - Respects visibility, but not position, opening semi-docked to current View Window (i.e. Views 1 to 8)d. Dimension Styles - Respects position but not visibilitye. Text Styles -.Does not respect eitherf. Cell Library - Respects bothg. Named Groups - Respects bothg. etc.
NB. I cannot find a reason for the variations in the Customise Ribbon Dialogue..
2. If you have a crash and your user preferences gets trashed, you will need to delete the Personal Preferences file and hence lose yor settings
4. And of course, you cannot Save Settings in a Read Only file.
However, overall, this is good. I used to fire up an AutoRun macro on file open, and some users were consistently closing dialogues that others wanted open each time. This solution generally allows more user control of Look and Feel.
