We've been forced to upgrade to Microstation CE and ribbon is taking too long to navigate. I've found most of what I need in tool boxes but all the Classic ones are gone.
Do I need to make custom toolboxes to get them back? or am simply I missing something?
When V8 came out, Bentley claimed you could use fewer clicks to do the same work as in Acad or V7.Smart line, accudraw etc..I agreed.I'm finding I have to press ESC and click twice as much with CE as with V8i.Anyone else feel the same?
I'm already hating the ribbon...Between the different workflow ribbon setups and the different tabs on the different ribbons, it's taking forever to find any command or dialog. And the search isn't very robust. In V8i the toolbar was GEOGRAPHIC Coordinates, but searching for "geographic" doesn't bring it up. It's "coordinate" that finds what I'm looking for...Little things like that all over so far.
I'm trying really hard to learn it out of the box, but I really really miss my Main Classic. Tasks weren't my favorite, but I could get around. In V8i, I could get to any tool I needed at any time. With the ribbon, I have to make sure I'm in the right workflow, then find the right tab, then find the tool...It sure FEELS like more clicks.

I've needed to adjust work flow procedure several times over the years. Not a fan of Ribbon, not a fan of Connect, but if I'm gonna use Microstation, I want to stay current.
Here is how I've set mine up. I use Task Navigation interface, keyin, coordinates and georeference tool boxes docked, several other common tools docked on edges. Created a piece of ribbon (Addons) to add a dozen common commands not on the TN interface. I keep the ribbon hidden.

I hate the ribbon GUI too (and task navigation as well). Personally I prefer the 'old fashioned' tool boxes and I have created 'Main Classic' toolbox. It is fairly simple job and makes life so much easier! So far I have still kept ribbon visibe but basically it is just waste of space.
