It does work similar to a reference file. The changes you made (new levels) are reflected. You see the new levels from the DGNLIB. As far as a cell library - if you move the elements in a cell in the library to a different level, none of your existing cells in your DGNs will move to that new level - so I don't see the comparison.

That would be ideal, but I think you could also run into issues with updating drawings that you don't want to sync to the updated dgnlib.

Take for example If I change a multiline offset in the dgnlib and update the dgn files it would \ could move the location of the existing multiline

Thanks Frank, I have tried several times but the options to apply remapping are greyed out, saying there is nothing in the level columns, but I have populated the columns. :{ Dont know what I am doing wrong but it is very frustrating.

Thanks Mary, I thought this was the case, but I don't agree with the way it works.

I think it should work similar to a reference file or a cell library for that matter , so that If changes are made in the DGNLIB they are reflected in the active files without the need for the remapping exercise. just my humble opinion...

You will have to remap the old levels to the new ones. When the element is created, the level used to create it is written to the drawing, and it becomes a local level. It is no longer controlled by the DGNLIB. You can rename the level in the DGNLIB, but that change doesn't carry over to what are now local levels

Hi,

As long as you knew your old level names create that CSV you're talking about and use the remapping tools form the save/as process, it is working.
