I have text of two two lines in a column of table and i want to make them to single entity in every column

I have text of two two lines in a column of table  and i want  to make them to single entity in every column and i want a shortcut any microstation feature to make them single entity with a click is that possible ? right now what i am doing is making cut of one text and pasting it in another text to make it single entity. its taking a very long me to do for every column.

For Example: This is the 2 line text what i have

SIGNAL RELAY DS/ES CONTROL SUPPLY

DS/ES CONTROL SUPPLY

and i want to make them in single entity as

SIGNAL RELAY DS/ES CONTROL SUPPLY

DS/ES CONTROL SUPPLY

any time saving method  will be workout for me.

i use microstation v8i select series 3

Any answer would be appreciated.

  • no i don't want to use group if i use Ctrl+G the text is just grouped and the text is not in a single entity but just grouped and i don't want that . please check the dgn file i have uploaded. i want to make it completely editable text with single entity. thanks for answer.

It seems you do not read my answer, because to group to one entity is exactly what you asked for, see your original question. My note was that until correct MicroStation terminology is used, it can be understood incorrectly (like to use Ctrl+G to create one entity).

    and i don't want that

It's your responsibility to explain clearly what you want and do it in such way, that it will require close to zero effort from readers (which invest their free time to help others).

It seems you even do not bother to read the wiki article I linked, because it describes how to convert texts to text node.

    What more do you expect?

  • sorry MR JAN Thanks i didn't read that completely sorry just tried that it is working but it also taking same time as i do manually. is there not any way like just CTRL+G for converting text to nodes please ?

I do not know about any other option.

As I wrote, to convert more texts to text node is complex process when implement to work generally and can hardly be fully automated (some manual work will be always required).

An alternative solution is to create e.g. VBA macro to solve specifically your situation. To implement general tool and to create macro for custom situation are two completely different situations and often the macro can be create in a fraction time. So it's about to evaluate whether it's better to do it manually (because it will be done once, so to convert even thousands of text is simpler and faster than to write and test code) or to invest into macro (because the same data will be modified regularly.

  • ok I managed to do it pretty close but its fiddley ( faster than individual editing)

What your trying to do is create the acad equivalent of MTEXT which in microstation is text node with word wrap imposed to force a line change at the end of the first line.... ( maybe its easier in acad but you asked for microstation)

you need to select all the text and from file menu select copy

    open text editor and paste

all your text is now there and just put an enter at the end of each second line

all your text is now one big node make sure you match the text to your old text first

works better than with excel and equations

if you want to edit  just click on individual piece of text and editor opens at that line for edit

and they all move together as its one big text node.. works great!
