Trying to CLEARLY understand the Associative checkbox option in the Create Saved View dialog (MicroStation CE Update 10).
When my Saved View uses the existing clip volume, it doesn't seem to matter whether the box is checked or unchecked. I can't find any differences in properties or function other than a checkmark in the IS ASSOCIATIVE column of the Saved Views dialog.
In some other reading, I get the impression that this checkbox only pertains to a Named Fence. Not clear if the Clip Volume had to be created with a Named Fence.
Any complete explanation, or direction to one, would be greatly appreciated.

That particular checkbox allows you to associate clip volume with the saved view which means if the clip volume is modified then the saved view will also be adjusted automatically. If not ticked then this phenomenon will be not noted.
When I have ASSOCIATIVE unchecked, the clip volume in my Saved View still updates when changed. That is caused by SYNCHRONIZE VIEW on my reference attachment being set to CLIP VOLUME ONLY (default). Taking this into consideration, could you redefine how ASSOCIATIVE works.

If I create a saved view say 5X7 via 2 points then later I need it to be 6X9 .. not sure what the associative does..But I have to delete the saved view and make a new one to make it cover more area..... not sure what the associative would do to make the saved view do... as its a live ref and if you change whats defined in the save view it is reflected where you attach it...
