Hi guys,
I made several models in a DGN file. Some of them are used as reference (inside the same file DGN).
I would like to turn on and off levels (own by "original" model) in the model "receiving" the reference.
In the attacched file, in model named "1 views", I wish turn on/off level named "Shipyard - A" and "Shipyard - B" belonging model "Shipyard.
NOT POSSIBLE, simply.
I am not able to understand the reason! I tried a huge number of attemps as turning on Global Display, but nothing.
Same situation for levels "Date + Review [2]", "Date + Review [3]", "Date + Review [4]" of model "Date + Review".
Idem for all levels of model "Text - Title [Above]"
Other levels of other model seem work well.
Could you help me please? I am desperate and I waste huge time for it :=(
Thanks a lot.smartSketch - Copia.dgn
Best regards,
PM
PS: I wish to create 200/250 models (named 1,2,3,4, etc...), and attach them in the Default model. Here I wish to turn on/off levels for EACH model indipendently. What have I to do?
Thanks a lot.

"Global Display" is not model specific - it refers (as far as I understand) to the entire DGN container file. If it's off there, it's off everywhere.
I'm not entirely following what you are describing, but I do know that "global" means everywhere. You can try "view Display" instead, and see if that gets you closer to what you are trying to do.
That's a LOT of models (and levels) to try to keep track of.

I wish to create a "grid" of sheets (in the imagine attached you see an example with 30 of them) but I need 250/300.
For EACH of them I wish permit users to turn on/off levels indipendently.
Could be my way the right one in your opinion?
Thanks
Well, I'm more of a fan of dividing work because it makes the underlying files less complicated and it allows more people to work when it's not all one giant file. I also prefer reference files for sheets whenever possible because I can make all sorts of changes to the appearance of a reference attachment without once modifying the underlying base file.
You can accomplish what you want, but you will probably have to approach it with the View display, instead of Global display if everything is self-referenced. In the level display dialog, you not only have three options for how to turn levels on/off (View Display, Global Display, Global Freeze), you can also open the top portion of the dialog as a "tree" view, so that you can select which reference attachment you want when you turn off those levels.
However, as I said, I believe the Global options will turn the level off in all the attachments of that model, and I believe it may turn it off in all the models. The only reason I'm not 100% sure about that is that I don't do things that way (with a lot of self-references with varying displays). Since I don't do it, I'm not positive that I understand what I think I know. You should be able to turn display of any reference attachment (self-referenced or outside file) by using the View Display for one or more views.
I see what you show me, but I don't understand the WHY. I don't know what kind of sheets those are, what they represent, and why you want them to be individual models in a giant grid. I'm sure you have a reason, but I have no idea what you are trying to accomplish.
Well I almost never use Global display or Global freeze, those are AutoCad influenced inclusions. View Display should do what you need, be sure to save settings after getting things how you need them.

I love Global Freeze for thing I absolutely do not and will not want to see. It saves having someone print from the wrong view and have a bunch of stuff turned on that needs to be off. It also saves confusion so that all views look the same (instead of one showing all the junk that's turned off in another view). View display is nice for what it is for, but overall, I want it on or I want it off - especially in printable sheets.
