Hello,
I have created a spread sheet in excel with the properties of some items.
In Descartes I created an item type library with item types and properties definition.
I am wondering if there is a way to link the cells from the spread sheets to the properties definition in a way that if I have a value in the spread sheet this is linked to the properties definition automatically in a way I just need to update the spread sheet.
For example if the property in the spread sheet excel file for purchased date is 20/04/2019 and I have to change it to a different value like 12/04/2020, if that is updated automatically in the descartes item properties.
Thanks
Regards
Roberto
Hi Carl,
Thanks for replying. I don't know where to see the Descartes version I am using. I am updating the connection client from version 10.00.17.10 to the newest one.
How can I attached the files here?
The Descartes version can be found by Selecting Reality Modeling > Help > About.
A compatibility matrix can be found here
When replying in the Forum a file can be attached using Insert > Insert Image/Video/File, if the information is sensitive then use Secure File Upload
Hello Carl,
Thanks for replying. I do not have the help menu on reality modeling. Please see below screen shot.
Not sure about the matrix meanings. Sorry. What version should I have?
I have uploaded the file called BLABF OFFICE BIM.rar

Following some further testing I have now been able to get the same message in the Message Center "Cannot import item type instance". In my case it was an error on my part in that I modified the date to a none existing date in Excel.
Originally the 'On site Date' attribute was
I changed it to
Obviously there is no 15 Month …. once corrected I was able to import successfully.
Perhaps you could check the date format in Excel.
I have check and realized that the problem was the format. Now everything is fine. Thanks a lot.
You are a star.
