Hi,
I'm trying to setup a drawing to print within a title block at a specific scale.
In AutoCad we would have a model and paper space and the ability to cut viewports to view the model at a specific scale.
What is the procedure to achieve this in MS?
Watching videos online are not very helpful.
Thanks
Sukumar

Learn about sheet models.

For a start
It is quite the same. In terms of wording in microStation we call your above "model and paper space" "Models" all the same.
There are different types of models 1. "design" models= acad models (I like to call them construction model) 2. "sheet" models = acad paper space or "Layout" (3. we leave the "plan model" for later…)
- (You may need to create a model of the type "Sheet"(=Layout/Paper Space) in the dialog >Models>Create New Model)Mind that you can set all the required definitions in the dialog (scale, sheet size etc.)
-You can put in all your title block and other border in there as graphics
- I prefer to define a "Saved view" (the equivalent of a "viewport") in the "Saved View" dialog. In your construction model you set a particular part of your construction and save this "view" with all its settings (level /layer settings etc.) with a name in that dialog.
- Then you switch into your sheet and reference the design model with the saved view. If you have both dialogs open ("Saved View" dialog and "Reference Files" dialog) you can drag-and-drop the saved view into the references file dialog. On the other hand you could just reference your design model into the sheet model directly and cut the attached reference then with the tools in the dialog)
Hi Sukumar,
Please take a look at the following, they will help you:
1. this post here:https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/f/z_-archived-microstation-v8i-forum/74850/how-can-i-create-sheet-model-in-microstation-v8i, and
2. Bentley CONNECT Advisor, an in-product tool to access context relevant learning material.
Happy learning!
Thank you for your response Judy.
I will work with this info the next couple of days and see if I can figure this out.
Appreciate the help.
Best
Hi Gerd,
Thank you for comparing MS & Acad concepts.
I will just have to play with this and see if I can figure this out.
