I have bee having this problem at work with microstation v8i 2D lately. Say I have a grouped hole, if I try to copy or move the hole off of its center, when I snap the hole to another location and right click out, the hole center is offset .0337mm down and .0471mm left from the point I tried snapping it too. This happens if I try to snap on intersecting lines and center marks on other items. Anyone else have similar issues?
Brett
When you snap what is your SNAP Mode set too ? Also if you use Keypoint what is the keypoint value ?
I use multisnap.
Hi Brett,
It may be an issue that is resulting from your Working Unit Settings. I have seen a similar behavior when the resolution setting is too high.
Can you post a screen shot of your Working Units in the Design File Settings dialog?
RegardsRon
I tried using your settings and saw the same behavior you mentioned. I then changed the Solids Area from 1000 km to 1 km and the grouped hole snapped and moved as expected.
It looks like the Solids Area affects the accuracy of Grouped Holes.
Regards,Ron
Here we have models that were made with older versions of the program. When i click "edit" it gives me this message."Warning: Changing the storage resolution will affect the size of existing elements, and could cause compatibility issues when saving to V7. Please refer to the administration documentation or your site administrator before changing advanced unit settings."
I think as long as you don't change the Resolution you may be able to change the Solids Area without it changing the size of existing elements. To be safe, make a copy of the file and try it out on the copy first.

not a problem if your never going to use V7 export, as the design plan in msnt v7 isn't large enough at te settings your using to hold all the design or possible design ,,, for our GO we used to use false origin and - northing to force it to fit out local STATE in a design file and still have real coordinates but this isn't used anymore with V8i onwards its all relative to 0,0 and we have datums... it was still legacy incase you need to match old files with xrefs and if your using another product to import dgn similar to how acad let you use dxf and most other products can handle dxf...
