Working in 3d V8i if I want to use Measure Distance Between two elements, the minimum between works fantastic using the setting Gobal Z . In MicroStation Connect I cannot find the same drop down menu and cannot get Minimum Between to work.. Can anyone help as I am new to Microstation Connect and use this a lot in 3d modeling..

Minimum Between works great as you guys can see in V8i .. Cannot get it to work in Connect … I know how to find the menu Ribbon in Connect .. I think Jan Slegr in on the right track I would say .. Thanks everyone for the replies
One more comment when seeing your picture: Please confirm whether the problem is in missing Global Z option for Minimum between, or that Minimum between does not work with your model (regardless what flatten mode is selected). They are completely different topics and have to be discussed separately!
When the problem is in the tool bug (it does not work at all), I recommend to create Service Ticket and to provide also test data. As can be seen in this discussion, some measurements that worked fine in V8i, cannot be done (from unknown reasons) in CE. But the bug is data-dependent, so cannot be discussed on general level.

Hi MaryB,
Thanks for the feed back appreciate it. I am an everyday user but we were using V8i and are moving across to Connect and i would use the Minimum Distance Global Z tool a lot to check electrical clearances, because electrical overhead conductors do not travel in a straight line and can have a 3 dimensional angle to it. Hence the use to find the minimum distance to determine the exact location of that minimum distance..
Your questions:Answers in below each .
.The Global Z option is no longer available for this tool
Yes that is correct
This tool in CONNECT does not work in your model
Does work but only in 2d but not in a 3d view
The "minimum distance" transient element does not show up in your model
Again does work but only in 2d but not in a 3d view
Thanks Again for the feed back MaryB I will raise a support ticket.. Where do I go to do this as
I am new to this site ..
Apologies to everyone who think I am being a pain but it like buying a new car with advanced technology and if it does not work or you cannot drive it properly you seek help or take it back to the manufacture .. plus the different formatting still trying to work that one out ..Lol
Regards
Mike
If you go to https://communities.bentley.com/support there is an option in the middle of the page for "Service Request Manager". If your company has a SELECT support account and if you are an authorized user, you can click that link to file a Service Request. If you are not an authorized user, you will need to find out who at your company is so that they can file the request on your behalf. They may be able to get your information to the support analyst so that you can end up communicating directly (I've had to go through that before when I wasn't authorized).
That will get your issue in front of the "official" eyes who can offer you more help and file a bug report if there's actually something wrong with the programming.

My Company does have a SELECT account and I am an authorized user as I sign into Bentley Connect Client everyday .
But I am not authorized to submit a support ticket personally with Bentley.I will have to raise a Job request with our IT Department who in turn will outsource it to our Cad administrators who in turn will then deal with it .. In the past we had our own internal Cad Administrators but Company decided to do away with them and outsource . Not even locally but overseas , so a lot of red tap but it is procedure and one of the reasons I joined this site.. They will act on it but it just takes time..
Thanks MaryB you have been a great help and I will definitely get our Administrators to raise a ticket
Another method of getting to the area to log a Service Request is to click on CONNECT Centre from the Connection Client.
