Please could the author of the above blog update this to state that the variable MS_TASKNAVIGATION_CONFIGURATION is not required to be set if using the V8i task Theme with U14. Shpouldn't this have been included in the blog?

Hi Stuart,
This information has been added to the U14 blog post now. It was mentioned in the U13 blog when V8i Task theme was introduced, that no config variable is needed to enable this. The doc also was updated in Update 13 to remove the config variable. However, this information is reiterated in the U14 blog on your request. Thank you for bringing this up.
