Microstation CE-U14
On rare occasions it becomes necessary to drop status on a callout or title text in order to get a deliverable out the door in a rush if something goes sideways. We don't do it out of habit but to maintain the general look/feel of a print to the end customer it can be necessary. It appears that in MS-CE this isn't possible anymore or a different tool for it? We had to go back to v8i today to correct an issue on a dozen drawings to meet a rushed deadline because it still works in v8i.
Can somebody from Bentley please confirm this as a defect and correct it or identify another (easy) way around drop status on tile text and callouts.
Thank you,
-Grant

You should supply some DGN data to help Bentley's analysts understand the problem...
Add some annotation to each to it's clear what's happend to each DGN.

I agree. We do not use detailing symbols. First reason is they require a dgnlib file. Send your dgn file to a client and guess what if they don.t have the same workspace work set dgnlib files all of the symbols look completely different. You cant drop them to plain old cells. We use plain simple cells. I have also found setting up the detailing symbols styles an awful process.
I have been able to replicate this issue. I can drop Detailing Symbol annotation in V8i that was placed with V8i or Connect. But I cannot drop them in Connect.
What's worse is that callouts don't seem to be translating at all anymore to AutoCAD correctly with any repeatability meaning we're forced to use v8i for translations. At this point I just hope that Bentley registers it as an issue before the end of 2021 so we can still make deliverables. Otherwise choosing to pay a premium for multiple seats of v8i just to keep working isn't going to feel good and I fear management might consider changing platforms.
I suppose we could consider PS's idea of just making dumb cells to achieve this task but it feels wrong to be going backwards to pre XM in a product that is supposed to be so improved.
The licensing is a different issue but we are seeing issues in Connect being able to convert to dwg and flatten dgns for client delivery. We want to remove V8i here but its the little-big things like this that are holding our feet to the fire.I did file a ticket on this and provided a file. I will keep this thread posted on what Bentley says.
