I've been working in Raster Manager a lot recently. One strange occurrence is that when I attach a raster image the default file type is set to *.cot. I can't find any user preference or configuration variable that controls this. If I change the file type in the attachment dialog to something else, attach the image, then do a File > Save Settings, that seems to solve the issue for a while. But somehow it is being reset to *.cot, and I'm not using and .cot images in my work.
This isn't that big of deal, just more of an annoyance. Can anyone enlighten me as to what might be going on?
Thanks.
Hi Rod,
Generally speaking that default format should defer to the last one used. A new installation will usually have All File (*.*). This information is stored in your Personal.upf file. Have you had any issues with any other settings not remaining intact between MicroStation settings?

Thanks for the info Regie,
I haven't noticed anything other issues with saving settings, just the default raster file type.

Check to see if you have the Raster Common format variable set (MS_RASTER_COMMONFILEFORMATS). This variable let's you set the format you wish to use as the default file format for raster attachment. If it is not set try setting a desired value and see if this will remove the .cot extension showing up as a default.
I removed my Personal.upf file and started out with a fresh copy. I think that has resolved my issue.
Thank you Regie.
