I purchased the v8 2004 license (I have the file ms08050227it.exe). Can it now work on win10? How?
Looking at your account details it appears you may have purchased this license for MicroStation V8 2004 Edition a while ago and are no longer on a SELECT contract with Bentley. As this version is not certified for use with Windows 10 and support has now been discontinued you should be upgrading to a version that is certified and supported for Windows 10, preferably MicroStation CONNECT Edition. I apologize if I explained myself wrong. I purchased the v8 2004 license with the SELECT contract in 2004. therefore I no longer renewed the SELECT contract. Now I'm using it on Windows XP (32 bit) on VirtualBox. I wanted information on the possibility of using it on Windows 10. My main job is on GIS, but I also need CAD and I like Microstation.
Thanks everyone for the answers
Eugenio
To have a version of MicroStation that operates properly on a Windows 10 system you will need to upgrade to a version that is certified for use with this version. This would ultimately be MicroStation CONNECT Edition but MicroStation V8i SELECTseries 10 is also certified for Windows 10. MicroStation V8 2004 Edition is not certified or supported for use on Windows 10.

Try it. Or wait for a member that's actually done it to show up. That old software would be handy for your situation. I'm in the opposite boat, CAD with a touch of GIS on the side. Not interested in another 7 thousand for ESRI product.
Windows 10 has options when installing programs, they're not well documented, you'll need to fiddle with it.

Yep me too that is why we use QGIS its free and getting better all the time and if your experienced GIS with other packages like Mapinfo or Arc etc you can figure it out quicker plus heaps of demos on youtube... I been using it for 2 years now for simple stuff like xyz import points and overlayed polygons and buffers etc but best is exporting labels from GIS data like spacial web sites with cadaster and road names these dont come down as text when use cad download option but use SHP option and open with QGIS you can see tables and use as labels and export labels as text to DXF then use in mtn.. unfortunaltey wont import DGN ( only V7 version) or current DWG but handles DXF no bother even hatched areas from DXF come in as true ploygons.. magic stuff... and FREE!

Offtopic: Same with Hexagon(aka Intergraph) Geomedia comparing to QGIS not so much differences both are similarly unstable. Only if Bentley Map would be more actively developed and supported it would be a game changer in GIS world, and GeowebPublisher CONNECT is a must.

They changed its name to OpenCities Map. Was that active development?

There's OpenCities Planner. Not sure if that's a new branding of GeoWeb Publisher.

Yes, we have stolen the discussion... ;-)

No, that's marketing activity. When these people get bored, they planned changes bringing no user benefit.
I asked about Map future and directions some time ago, but despite of long discussion I have not received any valuable information how Map is planned to be targeted and developed :-(

No, it's completely different technology, targeted to very different type of users.
