Moving Objects in Fence at two unknown angles

I need to move/stretch a portion of my drawing to make more room for other objects. Is there a command or way to move/stretch these items to an unknown distance or unknown angle? This is hard for me to explain so please be patient with me.

So say I had this drawing located above and I wanted to move/stretch to make more room for other items. I would then need to move/stretch it the west at an unknown angle to keep the pink line in  the fenced in area to the South and the West.

as shown above I moved it to the west (see blue arrows) and the pink line now is in the right angle but notice other parts are not in correct angle as seen below.

I would like to move all of this at once in both directions/angles at the same time. Is there a command or set of commands I am missing? I know this seems really easy but I can not seem to find a solution anywhere and could be I am not looking for the right terminology I don't know. I do know it would be a great help and time saver if someone can help me.

Thank you

  • Hi Melissa,

I have looked at your screenshots and have some questions.

I would like to move all of this at once in both directions/angles at the same time.

    1. Are you trying to move all elements inside your fence?

    2. Are trying to move everything in the same direction?

I ask this question because it sounds as though are want to move some elements in one direction and others in another direction.

I would recommend using a simpler test case with less elements to demonstrate what you are attempting do or I would log a service request with our helpdesk:

This way some can see first hand what you are doing.

  • Yes, I want to move/stretch everything in the fence at the same time, I have to do this on a daily basis and some drawings/areas are much much larger in which I have to do the same too.  Yes I want to move everything in the same direction I just want everything to line up once I do move it.

I have such a hard time explaining this situation that I haven't been able to find any help forums on it.

    Thank you

  • From what I understand about your intent, you want to stretch some things diagonally along the pink line, and you want to stretch other things horizontally, along the side roads. Geometrically, you can do one or the other. You cannot do both at the same time. Things can only be stretched or moved in one direction at a time - there is no way to say - in one single command - I want these to move this way AND those to move that way.

You can isolate elements by turning levels on and off, or by using display sets, and do the manipulation piecemeal. But that's about it.

  • What Mary said, the machine intelligence does not exist to interpret the individual elements to different alignments.

Best we got is scale the mess in place, in one direction (XS=2,YS=1), but that may produce undesirable results.

Really Regie? And how do you think that would go? Unless maybe Bentley sells a product for that.

  • what  I have  done  in the past is rotate the view along the pink line and fence stretch  with axis lock via accudraw. and turn off the cloud level also very careful with the fence to not cross over  but skirt  what not to change and enclose what needs change.. level names and turning on and off are very important with this kind of thing.. I use this method to change typical sections all the time  to make room for more features or modify similar plan to make a new  one.. I think would work for you if your careful placing the fence and wether or not  use clip or inside  fence... with the rotated view to the axis you want. as your unknown angle....
