How can Microstation (Projectwise) 3D drawing convert to Tekla Structures?
Are you looking to convert steel members of just solids?
Have you had a look at using IFC as a start point?
Hi Bear,
Thank you very much for your response. What I need is to convert full Microstation 3-D model with section shapes, ornientations and centre lines of elements that represent in Tekla. Also 2D shell also in the same way.
Yes IFC can be one of the way and it works from other software. But I am not sure whether Microstation capbilities for generating IFC format.
Regards
The first question would be whether you are using a plain installation of MicroStation or are you using a companion product that may be installed with it? The next would be which version of this software you would be using. The suggestion of exporting to IFC format could be an option for you but plain MicroStation does not have this capability. You would probably need to look at using something like OpenBuildings software to be able to do this. Performing a Google search there are a number of suggestions in the Tekla forums but I cannot see these as I am not a member. There also appears to be a tool they supply that converts from DGN to something that can be used in Tekla software. The following discussion may help.
