I am starting to deal with a lot of Line Style scales. EVERY time I select an element the Line Style Parameters ALWAYS needs to be expanded.
First, is/was there a reason for this? Second, is there a way to have it ALWAYS expanded?
I've been using Usta for a loooong time and this has always been the way it is and until now it wasn't an issue.

I think that any tree / nested structure, displayed in Properties dialog (Element Information), is displayed as collapsed at first by default. I guess it's hardcoded feature and standard behavior of many applications.

I do not know why it's always collapsed in your case.
I tried it with V8i SS10 and the state of Properties dialog is remembered, so when I open another file or restart MicroStation, Line Style Parameters node is automatically displayed in the same state at it was last time (e.g. as expanded). As far as I remember, it was the same in older V8i versions.
I think the dialog state is saved into upf file. Can you try how it works e.g. in newly created workspace (workspace user name is used for upf name, so to create new user would be enough)? It should help to check, whether there is an issue with e.g. corrupted or write-protected current upf file.
