Hi, When i double click on a text the text editor doesn't come up? I've tried the dialog box but it doesn't load up large paragraphs of text. Is there a way i can get my text editor back? Thanks
Please advise on the version being used when posting. read-first-microstation-forum-best-practices
Do you have the Properties dialog open at the time of double clicking on the text to edit, if this is the case it may be related to Defect 1026147, which has been resolved in MicroStation Connect Edition Update 14.
Hi Sorry I am using Microstation V8i. When I try to double click it the small box comes up where i can change the size and text style, is that what you mean by the properties dialog? Just not the actual box where i can change the text. If it has been resolved in that update how do i get that update onto my computer as updates are normally locked for us as our IT department can only do installs
The Defect mentioned was logged against MicroStation CONNECT Edition, so in this instance does not apply.
The change in Style and Text Size that you mention is presented in the Tool Settings dialog, whereas the Properties dialog is the Element Information dialog in V8i. But as mentioned the defect is not applicable.
If you select the Place Text tool does the Word Processor dialog open ?
If you select the Edit Text tool does the Word Processor dialog open ? ( IE is it just an issue when double clicking on the Text to Edit )
Does the problem occur when trying to edit any text from any file ? ( It may be the Text element is intentionally locked, this will be reported in the Message Center )
May be the Text your trying to edit is in a Reference file, if so open the Reference containing the text and edit.
May be the Word Processor dialog is off the screen, having double clicked on the Text to edit, what happens if you select the Menu item Window > Text Editor - Word Processor
Hi Thanks for your response
- The word processor dialog doesn't open when i click place text
- It doesn't open when i click the edit text tool either
- I've tried two different files and they are both having the same issue. I have referenced files but i am trying to edit the text from the master file rather then the referenced file
- When i go to the window - text editor - word processor the dialog still doesn't come up.
Thanks for the additional information perhaps the following will help

Hi We have just installed Select Series 10 and are getting exactly the same problem with the Text Editor, we are running it on Win 10. I have looked at all of the other solutions but none refer specifically to SS 10. Is SS10 compatible with IE11 as this seems to be the fix for previous versions ? I have found that when I switch to Word Processor instead of Dialog Box, the text highlights and an error msg comes up "Unable to load/create dialog item of type 'HTML'. id=41510001 from dialog "Text Editor - Word Processor" in the message center at the bottom of the window, and then if you accept that the text disappears. It needs Crtl Z to bring it back. This is very disconcerting. Any fixes for this. Thanks.
If you are receiving this error with the operation of the Word Processor text editor the Wiki article supplied by Carl Myhill explains various suggestions to fix this issue.

Hi Andrew, the installing of the DHTML Editor fixed the problem Thanks.
another handy hint press control space bar can bring a missing dialog at the cursor position worth practicing a few times as it happens now and again even if you have all the updates and software working correctly...
