I would like to place Configuration Variables as text on my drawing. I can't seem to find much information on this. I was exploring maybe using a Named Expression as it has the Annotation Keyword. However After setting it up and testing I wasn't able to figure out how to insert the named expression as an annotation or anything.
I could of course us VBA to do some special updating or something but I was looking for option directly within Micro station instead of just jumping to VBA right away.
Software: ProStructures Connection Edition Update 4 - Version 10.4.01.05
Would you be able to provide further details as to what you are trying to achieve here. Maybe an image showing what you are wanting to include in your design. It would also be helpful if you could provide details of the software and version you are currently using as per the MicroStation Forum best practices.

I have added my software version to my subject.
I use aSa Software. That being said they have Custom Configuration Variables to store some data in their drawings such as City, State, Project Name, Customer Name, Job Number.
What I would like to do is to place those Configuration Variables onto my Title Block. aSa Provides a tool for placing titleblock however my user base doesn't typically use that, additionally they don't want to use Tag Sets. Therefore I am trying to find a way to place the text onto the title block as text.
So is Item Types, while using MstnVariable.GetVariable("[INSER VARIABLE HERE") just not availabe in my version? Or was I dong something wrong?
Yes, the ability for Item Types expressions to fetch the value of configuration variables has been added in MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 14.
Is there any place on this site where those of us who use the other Bentley software packages like Prostructures and OpenRoads can see what "equivalent" version of MicroStation we are using? It's not apparently obvious that "ProStructures Connection Edition Update 4 - Version 10.4.01.05" or "OpenRoads 2020 R2" are not the same as the current (or corresponding) build of MicroStation.
Since certain features are only available in specific versions of MicroStation, but not in the latest releases of the other packages, it can be frustrating to go around only to find out that our software is actually a version or two behind the base product. Some sort of table explaining what MicroStation core build is used for the various vertical products would be helpful.

Hi Mary, try typing "Version" in the key-in browser, this should output the MicroStation "equivalent" version of your Product in message center
That's helpful. Thank you.
