How to backup and restore Microstation Connect configuration to a new PC?

Hi,

For V8 version I found following posts, about how to backup and restore a microstation configuration to a new PC:

https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/w/microstation__wiki/8739/how-to-copy-user-preferences-and-user-configuration-files-to-a-new-or-different-pc
https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/w/microstation__wiki/8773/how-to-back-up-and-restore-user-preferences

Is there somewhere for the connect edition a guide which explains the best way on how to move to a new PC, with the need of reconfiguration as few as possible?

Despite intensive search, I could not find any information about it.
Many thanks

  • Does your PC connect to a data server computer?  I would be inclined to adjust MicroStation's configuration as if you were part of a project, and store your configuration files on that server.  That way, when you install a new computer, the work to connect to your server will be minimal.

If it's the user preference file in particular that you're asking about, then that's changed its name in CONNECT to Preference.upf.  You will find it using the same process described in the links you cite above.  On my computer, the path is...

    C:\Users\CONNECT\AppData\Local\Bentley\MicroStation\10.0.0\prefs

My Windows username is CONNECT in this example.  You'll find some other files in the same folder that belong to your configuration.
