When you export to dwg, in the references tab, several options for several reference types are shown. The idea is fantastic, yet I've a suggestion for improvement. (I'm doing so here because I'm not testing over latest beta and while I've been invited to the beta discusion forum I think its more fair to expose here just in case its already iplemented (doubt)).
For SELF ATTACHMENTS, when you choose "merge to cell", when you open elsewhere, the reference data is under a hyerarchy node that hast the name of the .dgn. That would be ok if it was an EXTERNAL reference, but since it is a SELF ATTACHMENT, the name of the dgn as root of hyerarchy provides no proper info of the data contained in under that node, it should be the MODEL NAME as root node name instead of .dgn name.
A messy workaround (requires unloading current cell lib or using cell selector) for this situation is to attach the design model as Cell, in that case the naming is properly set based on the description:
Image: original .dgn name is "329_showa_shell_3D", by opening "329.showa_(...)_aligned.dwg" which contains self attachment of other motherl in same .ccgn, when opened in another 3d package you can see the same model data under two different yerarchy nodes names, the one OK is the "(...)_main_sign)", naming comes from the model places as cell.
Hi Pablo,
I see the issue that you are describing but I am unsure what option you would like to see.
I would recommend posting your suggestions under the MicroStation Ideas Forum>Data Interoperability
https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/i/data_interoperability
That way others can view your suggestion and vote on whether or not they would like to see the same functionality.

Regie
Hello Reginald, ok I'll post.
Just to make it clear, the option that is needed is that on export for dwg, self attachments, when "merge to cell" option enabled in export options, theese should be named based on the model name instead of the file name, because, when naming all by file name, all the self attachments are named equally. I'll post soon on ideas section.
