Reference setting Display Overrides not working

Using OpenRoads Designer 2020 Release 2 which is built upon Microstation CONNECT update 13.

I have a container file that is referencing files A B and C. This container file is referenced into a sheet file, Live nesting depth 1. The reference setting Display Overrides is set to never so that I can control the display of all of my sheets from the container file. This setting is not working - in the example I provide in the attached Zip file - the sheet file has no levels displayed even though all levels are displayed in the container.....

I'm sure this is something incredibly simple but I'm not even sure where to look...

Update:

It works....The issue ended up being a configuration variable. I was making changes trying to fix another issue. I went back to an old config file and the levels were displayed as expected.

Now I just wish I knew which config variable gave me the issue....

  • I am currently dealing with this really annoying setting. I had motif (container files) figured out on 10.09 and now 10.10 has ruined the functionality. I'd really like to know how to get a working motif file so I don't have to set stuff to allow and go sheet by sheet.

  • The problem is with the Display Overrides: Never setting. I have a motif file (container file to some) and this is where I'd like to change level settings at. I set my levels in the motif model. They are then referenced with the settings Display Overrides: Never, Live Nested (nested depth is 1 or 99 but neither has made a difference). The view in the sheet model looks ok sometimes, and then other times it reverts back to showing levels I do NOT want on. In Microstation Select Series, this would always function properly without fail. Display Overrides: Never would not allow a sheet model to change the current levels set from a motif reference. The current workaround I've got going is DisplayOverrides: Allow (in the sheet model) and then I tweak the levels in the sheet model. This is not preferred because you must repeat the action across ALL sheet models instead of just setting levels once in a motif. This can lead to inconsistencies if levels aren't identical throughout all sheets.

  • I use the same workflow, however, my workflow is a little more resilient in that I create a Saved View in the 'Motif' file. This provides me with the extra 'lockdown' functionality so that I am not only preventing users from changing levels in the sheet, by I am ensuring my views always show what I want them to. As I don't use CONNECT I cannot say I've experienced the same problem. I would suggest you try using Saved Views and ensure Synchronize View = All for its attachment settings.

  • Barry, I tried that out. How do you typically change levels later in a saved view? Is there a quick way to go about that? Also, how do you typically clip your saved view? I tried to clip it after referencing the clip view in the sheet and clip boundary wasn't an option when I synchronized all properties. I had to change it to just presentation. I don't have a ton of experience doing this method.
