Importing DWG object - stalls at "DATA GROUP VALIDATOR"

For anybody to be able to help you, they would need  to know if you want a 2D or 3D  regular bus.

Hi Ian, Thanks for answering. Yes, it's 3D, but what is this data group validator for? If it's just a one-time import... Is there not any site where you can get DGN cells of vehicles?

Data Group Validator is used by Open Building Designer to ensure that the items in a file are properly allocated with in a design file.

Generally speaking a bus is not part of any datagroup as it is not a architectural / building / mechanical / electrical / plumbing dataset.

Therefore if you place something that is not defined in a dataset it will be flagged up by the validator.

Going back to your original question in addition to the suggestions previously given I have found a 3D cell of a bus which is in the bus3D.dgn file attached.

Ian, Thanks for your nice bus. It fits very well under the solar panel roof. (The bus will be solar powered and charge under the roof)

I just miss a full outer shell which has turned transparent somehow. Is there a certain layer I should turn on or change properties for? Can I turn it to a cell and then change the display style? Thanks again, Ingemar

The bus in the drawing was a cell, all elements were on level 50 (its an old cell from many many years ago!)

So if you were to drop the cell you would be able to change the level of each of the bits and apply a material or assign a level

I have very quickly copied the bus, dropped it from being a cell and changed the outer skin to metal and the glass doors and windows to glass using apply parts.

The attached file now has two buses - one as a single cell and one modified feel free to play

Data Group Validator revisited

Hi again Ian,

Still struggling with this randomly appearing “DG System Validator”, freezing everything.

As I´m doing only small size projects in MStn I think I don’t really need it? I tried to change the User Config Variable “DG_Catalogs_Bypassvalidate” from 1 to 0 – but to no effect.

Do you know any other way to disarm this validation dialog?

BTW, thanks again or the nice buses you sent; they are perfect visualizing the architectural design.
