Dimension Leader Text Angle Options (Help)

I am trying to figure out how I can change the text angle (rotation) on a leader from a dimension. Below you can see when I drag it away the text angle stays the same as the dimension line. I am trying to see if I can set that to be 0° when dragged. In AutoCAD, when dragged dimensions, it would default to read horizontal (0°). And I can just click on the leader and change text rotation angle in the properties. But no option like that here. Please help. Also, would it be possible to set the dragged leader to actually have that line continue under both text fields instead of stopping where its shown. I'm using Microsoft V8i (SELECTseries 4)

  • You are likely to be unhappy with the dimensioning tools in MicroStation...Some things are better (IMHO, I hate that ACAD rotated dimensions can't be adjusted without changing the angle!) but some things are not as flexible. Most dimension style settings are not adjustable from the Information dialog.

The leader line - getting the line to run through the text - isn't possible. It's barely possible with actual note elements, and not possible at all with dimension leaders.

The angle of that leader, however CAN be changed, although that is a setting in the Dimension style, so it can affect other dimensions using that style if you aren't paying attention.
In the Dimension styles dialog, select your style and pick the "Text" tab. On the right side of the dialog, find the "Format" section, and change the Orientation from Aligned to Horizontal.

  • Thank you. I got it now. And I also figured a way to have the line run through as shown below. So the style below is with my format Horizontal, and I have another style that is "Aligned". So I just use my aligned style and if I need to drag the text as a leader I just change the style to the horizontal and I get what you see below. Of course applying the text style I want to use. So if I want a line to run through my text for something say like 4' on top and TYP. on the bottom, I just turn on my secondary units in my dimension style which I have on for this one.  Thanks so much for the help.
