Do you know if there will be any progress regarding Item Types in Navisworks?
I work for an international consultancy group and have major clients that want to see Item Types in Navisworks.
I can export from Microstation to DWG, but all attributes doesn't transfer 100% - while Navisworks only seem to read block attributes from the DWG anyways. Other solutions, such as exporting attribute data from Microstation to excel and import into Navisworks, aren't integrated nor functional enough.

Split from original discussion as it appears to be a new question.

Victor - I think this is a question for the developers of Navisworks. If Navisworks cannot read Item Types, it is an issue with Navisworks and the DWG format.
Hi Victor,
The DGN compatibility in Navisworks is quite poor and outdated (and not likely to be enhanced). That being said, use of the new Item Types Export tools and Navisworks Data Tools is working really well for those of us Federating BIM data from the Microstation environment.
Some conversations about this here:

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the answer.
I tried the Item Type Instance Export, as you suggest in the linked answer. To my understanding that excel should be able to be imported into Navisworks through "Data Tools" import. I have already attached the DGN-file, and fixed the ODBC Driver, in Navisworks before importing the excel.
Please see attached images of my process in Navisworks to import the excel - this doesn't work for me. Maybe this is a question for Autodesk but I would be very grateful if you know how to do this properly?

yep, best to search online as there is heaps of documentation, but your dialog needs to be populated like below.
You define your spreadsheet in the "Setup" dialog and map all the Fields to what you need to get them displayed as in Navisworks.
