I can't find the old dcdrape.pal in Connect. But drape option is still present in the raster manager. So now how do we drape a raster image on a 3D mesh ?
Chris
Hi Chris
I have had a search in the delivered Bentley folders and this file does NOT exist. If you have not done so log a SR.
Obviously you can get it from the old V8i files if needed. if you do not have this let me know and I will post it.
Ian
OK, thank you. I will log a SR.
I am really surprised that nobody pointed this before. I guess this feature is so un-easy to access (assign a 3D object to the dcrape material then tick the good box in the raster manager) that almost nobody is aware of it.
Chris.
DCDRAPE palette is available in the old material library which is in the legacy directory in the shared content:
C:\ProgramData\Bentley\connectsharedcontent\materials\Legacy_Materials
You can either modify the configuration variables to point to it or replace the existing one in the materials directory.
Best regards,
Andrea
Thanks Andrea.
So basically Bentley doesn't want regular users to access this feature. Will it be removed in the next -""Update""- ?

Is that a reasonable conclusion? Search for drape in MicroStation help to find several topics. Drape appears in contexts including image drape and mesh drape.

There may be more possibilities in CONNECT: is this one useful?

Yes i think this is a reasonable conclusion. I am speaking of draping an attached raster reference onto a terrain mesh. There is a dedicated option for this in the raster manager.
You have to attach a strange dcdrape.pal to you drawing, then attach the dcdrape material to your mesh then tick the correct option in the raster manager.. do you think anybody can find this easy..?
And add to this that the mandatory dcdrape.pal is not included anymore in the Connect Deliverables but you have to download the optional shared content !!! Is that a clean, straightforward feature anyone can use ?
Why don't you tell us this will be removed from Powerplatform and we will need to but the very expensive Bentley Descartes or Map to do this simple task ?

I'm going to tell you no such thing, since I don't represent or work for Bentley Systems.

MicroStation Help tells us: Draping — Indicates if Draping is enabled. When dcdrape.pal is added to a material table (.mat) which is attached to a DGN file, the draping is preserved and can be viewed directly in the application and rendered by the rendering engine when this field is toggled ON.
dcdrape.pal
So why is dcdrape banished to a DGNLib in the Legacy_Materials folder, mentioned by A_F? Or, is it available in another delivered DGNLib, and the help needs to be just a little more helpful?
dcdrape

Since that file is mentioned in the current MicroStation CONNECT help, why is it located in a folder that, as chris Cher notes, this feature is so un-easy to access.
Information from our software development: The palette is not necessary, it is in the map editor dialog under special, as shown on following screenshot:
