File opening can be very long when you have big references files attached.
Is there a way to bypass the loading of the reference files, or better, delay it ? (a SKIP button in the loading screen could be nice).
I know you can avoid all reference with a command line parameter but that's not what i need. I want the files to be attached but not loaded at startup.
regards,
Chris.
Adding -O to the MicroStation shortcut does not open any references.
-O Does not open any references.
Thank you but that is exactly what i mentioned i my post: -O switch does not attach files at all, all XREF disappear. This is useless. I want the files to remain attached but not loaded at startup.
Chris
soooo you don't want to see the references when the file is opened ? how else would they be displayed if they are not loaded ?

Reference display is turned OFF and i use full reference path, with UNC path. I have no problem to locate the reference files, it is just they are big and very time consuming to load.
Here is a scenario. I have a A.dgn file with my project and a very big topographic TOPO.dgn map attached. I would like to be able to open the A.dgn file fast without loading and seeing TOPO.dgn but if i open the reference manager TOPIO.dgn ie there and if i turn ON display, the it loads TOPO.dgn for the first time.
ok - thats a bit more clear.
Essentially you do not want to load or cache any reference file whos' display is off - correct ?
but upon turning the display back on in the reference file dialog, at that point load the reference - correct ?
Exactly ! And as says Martin below, it could be a skip button for references (designs or rasters) at loading time. Considering that they appear on the loading screen when they are long to open, we would have the choice to press SKIP and bypass them. And no need to SKIP the fast ones.
