Hi All,
I am currently working with a lot of 3D pipe (tube) cells for scaffolding which requires i constantly need to rotate them in plan view using the "3 points" rotate tool settings. Due to this, my ACS plane and ACS plane snap locks have to be constantly ON for better accuracy. Meanwhile, each time i try to rotate with these locks on, the first point snaps at the correct location but the second point snaps at an arbitrary point which is not desirable thereby rendering the third point invalid. So i cannot complete the rotation effectively
Also, once i switch off the ACS plane snap, i don't experience this issue anymore but i need it ON to rotate accurately on a plane. This is an issue i have always experienced in MicroStataion for a while now and i just wonder what causes this problem.
i would really appreciate your contribution to this
Thank you
H
Can you post a simple dgn that demonstrates this? I can't think of a reason why the 2nd point wouldn't be projected to the ACS plane, especially since you've also enabled ACS plane lock which should make AccuDraw orient itself to the ACS on the 1st point and eliminating it as a potential point adjuster.
Hi Brien... the real issue is that each time i try to use the "Extrude Feature" tool using a cell as a profile for my extrusion, once i click a data point to insert the cell profile, the Z-lock automatically activates (turn on) and i really don't like this. its really annoying as i have to keep turning off the Z-lock progressively into my modelling

The real issue is that Brien has offered his help, in return for an example DGN model.

A personal dislike is not evidence of a problem. Please supply an example DGN as requested.

Alight guys, no problem ....see dgn 3D model attached. Thanks for your help159367-TAZ-BR1-MLN1-MOD-ECV-200064 _ BTMRR - Main Shed Platform 3 Towers.dgn
After identifying a profile, the extrude feature tool locks the extrude direction so that by default you don't create skewed extrusions. Looking at your dgn I don't see why this isn't what you want. If you do really need to create skewed extrusions, you can just hit enter to toggle "smart lock" off. Not sure how this is related to your initial post? HTH
