I have created a super-cell of sorts made from our other recognized cells and it will not place unless the "place as shared cell" button is not selected. Do i need to drop the component cells to smart solids in order to place my super cell shared?

Can you share the cell library?

no sir. it contains proprietary information
Generally it is not a good idea to make cells inside other cells, if you try to make new cell with the cells all dropped first you might be able to do what you want.. try with small sample test first... I have tested this as personally I dislike shared cells as I had a bad experience as a newbie ( 20 plus years ago) I edited 1 cell not realising it was a shared cell and was zoomed in so much to only see the cell of choice and boom 100's of cells changed that I didn't notice and it was a business wide map so I was given a dressing down and never forgot it.. so I don't like shared cells and avoid using them as much possible, but I know in 3d modeling world it is often very necessary to help keep enormous model file sizes down.. but me I dont like em did I say that already... ?

Sounds like bug.
Nested cells should work, although I trust Lorys when he says that they are problematic.
