Hi, sometimes when using either saved views references on sheets or named boudary from default model or drawing model referenced on sheets, the display of some element won't get updated. Like I will changea dysplay style of an element and it will never get updated in the sheets. Or I will change the layer of an element or the color of an element and the updat won't pass to sheets.
This is sometime also happening when I reference a model from a file into the same file. I say sometime, because it's not always the case, sometime everything is working and sometimes not.
I know I can detach and re-aatch but it's a lot of of trouble.
So my questions is: is there a key-in to refresh views or references display?
I think there is one for cached references but can't find it again, anybody have some tips on this, maybe it will do the job? But if not is there a master key-in to refresh all views??
Thanks for your time
In the reference dialog, right-click your reference and select update from saved view
For cached references do the same then just click the modified pencil icon to update the cache
How do we set that to happen automatically?

For the masochists using Connect I believe you use the keyin:
REFERENCE VISIBLEEDGES CVESYNCH AUTOMATIC

Thanks. We're still weighing the advantages of saved views vs. the training we already need to do, and if saved views don't update automatically, it may not be worth adding yet one more thing to keep track of. There's not "winning", but we need to decide what's best for us at this point. There's something to be said for introducing "all the new ideas" at once, but there's also an argument to be made for smaller steps over time.
If using cached references Mary, under visible edges in reference settings you can change between manual, automatic and disconnected, where automatic will update every time you open the file. I generally use manual so I can control when the updates are pulled through to a sheet or drawing.
When using saved views, changes to geometry will update automatically, but changes to presentation or view attributes need to be updated, or pulled from the 'saved view'.
I am sure there is also some nuance to this, where if you place a saved view as a reference, this will maintain updates from the original file, until the view is tinkered with in the ref file, ie settings changed, at this point, you need to push the changes back to the 'saved view' to maintain sync.
@Mary I'm almost always using Dynamic so there is no need to worry about updating. The only time I use cached edges is if I am using a saved view with a Clip Volume to create views of a 3D Model and also using copy/hide cached element, that's the only time when updating reference attachments is required.
Thanks Barry, will definately try this when the problem rise again!
