This is my first time working with the connectedition, before that I always used v8i. I'm about halfway through my project and can't go on, as even simply cutting two objects can take up to 5 minutes, as the program freezes non-stop. I've already loaded an old, more complicated project which was created in v8i without any problems, and it can be edited without any problems. here are a few strange things that i noticed almost all layers seem to be in use having objects in them, although there is actually nothing in them? if you save the file as v7 (older version) and open it in v8i you don't get the objects, but only the lines and objects that were used for cutting and modeling, although these were actually deleted. it is enough to move the mouse button over a line of an object to freeze the program for 30 seconds If you select an object with a mouse click, all previous operations (cutting, rounding, etc.) are displayed as small symbols. is that normal? does anyone know whether it is just very slow, or have I done something wrong, or selected wrong settings? I'm not very familiar with this program
Hi Janis,
based on the same discussion in German forum, it seems you use MicroStation CE 10.00.00.25, which is the first public MicroStation CE released.
It's 5 years old (released in September 2015) and from today perspective it was more like alpha, or early beta, version, slow and extremely buggy.
You have to upgrade to the latest available version, which is CE Update 14.2, or to wait to "soon to be released" Update 15. Overall user experience (performance, number of known bugs, GUI responsibility etc.) is completely at different level (even when still many bugs exists).
With regards,
Jan

ok didnt know that! Sadly i cant upgrade it without buying it myself due to my schools license and i cant afford that so i probably just have to deal with it
you need to tell your school to get you the latest version and issue it to you under the academic license agreement...
They need to keep up to date if they want you to use CE..
Then you can work out if you need to buy a better laptop / pc...
are you using the software at school in class?
Are your fellow students using the same version and do they experience the same problems?
