HOW TO EXPORT PANEL SCHEDULE FROM DWG TO EXCEL SHEET?

Hi everyone,

I am using Microstation Connect, and I have Panel Schedules from Asbulits drawings (.dgn). Is there a way to export it back into Excel Sheet? So, I don't have to retype.

Thank you!

  • If it was a linked or embedded spreadsheet in a dgn file, you should be able to double click on it to edit it and it should open in excel for editing. You can then do a "save as" to a new excel file. If it is an image, it will not convert back to excel data.

  • You could try printing to pdf just the image portion.. then use something external program like  scan to cad to try to convert back to text, or and ocr program...or if your lucky and have adobe illustrator or corel draw you can use the OCR feature to convert to text then import the text into excel...

you can try Raster to Text Conversions online for free but I dont think they work well from a picture of a picture...but worth a try for free...

If you have large format plotter/ scanner from HP they usually give away free Scan to Cad program... I think there is also trial versions on line just file size limited... I have had good success with scan to cad but again depends on the input data quality and source... nothing to lose to try and might get you out of a bind...

Lesson here is if you add excel to your drawing  use embedded  method so it lives inside the dgn and easier to pass on to client and others...
