Microstation Alternative

Many Autocad clones out there some even free

Sketchup the free version is pretty good...

I did a google search for you  list  a few 

Qcad isnt  bad, some of these clones can only do 2d but if its free  you cant complain...

Thanks Lorys,  I will check them out.  I just need basic 2D  CAD, but the program must read  DGNs.

Very little out there will read dgns for free....some of the low cost ones for business <$1000 will read dgns ...

It would appear DualCad 2.93 would suit your needs best as it  handles DGN including  ref attachments and is free and  under 2MB download.. use google to find it  only available from an info site doesnt seem to have a developer website but screen shots look great... hey its free  give it a try

Thanks again, Lorys    I did see DualCad in my search as well.  I will look more into it.  I don't mind spending a little on the right porgram.  I would like it to be somewhat similar to Microstation and at least operate on DGN files.

Just to note that "Home Use" licenses are provided as a benefit for any company on a SELECT contract and should really only be used for training purposes at home. The "Home Use" benefit is currently not available with CONNECT versions of Bentley software.

If you are looking for 2D CAD software you might like to consider MicroStation PowerDraft which is a cut-down version of the main program. It is of a lesser cost than the full MicroStation software and should cover all of the operations you would be used to doing with 2D drawing.
