Can reference rater (tiff) file in combined DGN vector format be converted to DFX format?

Hello everyone,

I have request from our customer for DXF files for their review our project. But, dgn files contains attached raster image (tiff) as reference, additionally border in the drawing is another dgn reference file. My question is - when I export this drawing to DXF format, will these references be present or they will disappear from dfx drawing? I don't have DXF Viewer installed on my computer to make sure file is correct, as expected. Thank you all in advanced!

  • as mary has hinted you have to set the external refs settings to merge in the dxf settings ..you  haven't told us the raster format and what  it is of... ie jpg logo

personally I would give the client a  pdf of the drawing showing the raster ref attached, a dxf export ( to the highest version of acad you can export allowed) and a copy of the raster file just in case  they can better attach it in their own software as the same raster format .. I believe the merged raster becomes a BMP and may or may not lose some quality.

If the raster was a simple logo you could vectorise it to dwg on line convertors abound as well as scan to cad, then tweak it in mstn  ref attach > merge ref to your dxf .. so its not a raster anymore.. but I wouldn't do it to a map ...
