Hello everyone,
I have request from our customer for DXF files for their review our project. But, dgn files contains attached raster image (tiff) as reference, additionally border in the drawing is another dgn reference file. My question is - when I export this drawing to DXF format, will these references be present or they will disappear from dfx drawing? I don't have DXF Viewer installed on my computer to make sure file is correct, as expected. Thank you all in advanced!
Yes, I just opened this DXF file, and I can see all raster (tiff) is gone. :( Any solution how to convert it without losing references?

Does DXF support raster attachments (XREFs)? As it's AutoDesk's file format, you should first verify on an AutoDesk forum whether their product supports raster.
If the DXF specification does not support raster, then your customer can't expect a file exported from MicroStation to include those TIFF files.

Sir, how do I know if DXF supports raster? I'm asking here.
Google says DXF can support raster format, but unfortunately it wasn't created when I Exported DGN to DXF .
What are your settings for export? I found this discussion (from a few years ago):https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/f/fileformats-forum/68986/export-to-dwg-deleting-raster-attachments
While it is old, it may be worth looking at your Export/Save as settings to see if any change there makes a difference.

There are several questions you should ask:

For answers to the above questions, go to the inventor of DXF, which is AutoDesk. Why expect people on a MicroStation Forum to be knowledgeable about another developer's products?
For answers to those questions, consult MicroStation help or post here.
as mary has hinted you have to set the external refs settings to merge in the dxf settings ..you haven't told us the raster format and what it is of... ie jpg logo
personally I would give the client a pdf of the drawing showing the raster ref attached, a dxf export ( to the highest version of acad you can export allowed) and a copy of the raster file just in case they can better attach it in their own software as the same raster format .. I believe the merged raster becomes a BMP and may or may not lose some quality.
If the raster was a simple logo you could vectorise it to dwg on line convertors abound as well as scan to cad, then tweak it in mstn ref attach > merge ref to your dxf .. so its not a raster anymore.. but I wouldn't do it to a map ...
