I would like to know how to export or save a model out of my dgn as a stand-alone dgn file.
You can do it several ways.
1. Open the blank file, go to the models dialog and select the import model option, browse to the needed design file and select the needed model you wish to import.
2. In the required model file go to file>save as - select DGN for the file type, go to the options button and in the "save as V8 Options", go to the filter tab. In the filter tab look at the models button. This will allow you to select the model you want to save out.

Unfortunately the Default model cannot be deleted. It can be renamed, but remains the default model.

Understood, normally the save-as or export would let me choose the models I want and unselect the models I do not want, did this quite often in SS-10. But when doing this today in ORD Connect, I am still getting the models that were unselected being copied to the output file. One of them is the (renamed) default model in the source (the 3D design for a roadway corridor), and the 2D model that I can delete is the corresponding 2D model to the 3D. It is the 3D model that is coming with the save-as or export that I am trying to unselect and leave out of the destination file...
Ultimately I can reference in one of the desired models to a new blank DGN, then merge into master, followed by importing the other desired models. But trying to maintain the 2D-3D linked geometry alignment models from the original file will be lost by importing references, meaning I will still have to rebuild my alignment geometry definition in the new file. No work savings there.
Hi dodis,

I recommend to discuss this issue in OpenRoads | OpenSite forum. Every power product like OpenRoads, OpenBuildings etc. can behave differently than MicroStation, and especially ORD with complex data structures stored with every model, may implement different functionality (and, unfortunately, also to introduce new bugs ;-)
