Dynamic Section Callout - Snap Accuracy

Microstation CONNECT 14 - Version 10.14.00.109

I have a 3D file that I am cutting dynamic sections.  And generating a section view drawing model using the default metric seed.

The accuracy of snaps in the drawing model are giving me graphical issues as below.

When zoomed in on the snap it appears to the left or right (moves depending on zoom level).  The section is taken through a 3d model.

For simplicity the above is taken through a simple line string in the 3D model.  Highlighted in purple above is the line string, as you can see, the snap is to left.

I have checked the camera settings are off, and that only the cut plane is shown (forwards/backwards are off), No ACS, No plane locks

I have tried changing the locate interiors input.  Yet I am unable to snap to the element accurately.

This behavior is extremely annoying when trying to annotate/dimension a section callout.

Any advice?

Many Thanks

  • From the image alone its a little difficult to determine the cause, may be useful for others if you posted a simple sample file.

That said I suspect the Element displayed in the Drawing extends beyond the Clipping planes of the Call Out, thus the Snap is going to the Elements extent along that clipping plane.. (See red arrows in image below)

If this is the case in the Drawing Model open the References dialog and select the Reference in question, in the 'Visible Edges' column, change it from 'Dynamic' to 'Cached'. Once done the Snap will go to end of the cached Element (The intersection of the Element and the clipping plane).

More on Cached Visible Edges can be found in the help
